The Committee on Government Affairs will meet tomorrow to discuss the hearing response from Ingilín D. Strøm, Minister of the Interior, regarding the preliminary findings of the committee. The findings indicate, similar to the assessments made by the National Audit Office, that there are significant concerns about the long-term sustainability of the Housing Loan Fund.

In a recent session of the Parliament, Ingilín D. Strøm stated that she had no indications of problems related to long-term sustainability.

Hans Jacob Thomsen, the chair of the Government Affairs Committee, highlighted that the Minister’s response spans 36 pages.

Although Ingilín D. Strøm declined an interview, she provided a written statement to Kringvarpið: “Yesterday, I submitted a response to the Committee on Government Affairs regarding its preliminary conclusion. I fundamentally disagree with the conclusion and have argued that I have in no way provided the Parliament with misleading information. I trust that the Committee will consider my comments with the seriousness that the matter requires,” said Ingilín D. Strøm in her written remarks.

Political commentator Árni Gregersen noted, “It is not unlikely that Ingilín D. Strøm’s response could politically safeguard her.”

For further insight, viewers can access additional discussions on the issue in the program “Dagur og Vika” and watch the interview with Árni Gregersen, hosted by John Johannessen.
