The police in the Greater Reykjavík area have announced that there will be no fines issued for the use of studded tires. Winter conditions were present in the region last night and this morning. In a post on Facebook, the police emphasized that it is preferable to delay the use of studded tires when possible, or to opt for alternative, environmentally-friendly tires. They also noted that studded tires are legal outside the specified period, from October 31 to April 15, provided conditions permit.

Earlier, the police in South Iceland also stated that no fines would be issued for studded tire usage in their jurisdiction. Last night, rescue teams were called out due to a number of vehicles getting into trouble in the Kambs area, where icy and snowy roads posed challenges for drivers. Several cars ended up off the road, and there were some minor accidents reported.
