Significant police operation in Reykjavík following knife attack leaves one hospitalized and two suspects arrested

A significant police operation took place last night following a knife attack in Reykjavík, resulting in the hospitalization of one individual and the arrest of two suspects. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Police Station 4, which covers the areas of Grafarvogur, Mosfellsbær, and Árbær. The victim was transported to the emergency department with stab wounds, and their current condition remains unknown.
Authorities reported a heightened police presence in the area as the investigation progresses effectively. Additionally, officers from Police Station 1, responsible for East Reykjavík, West Reykjavík, and the city center, were also dispatched to respond to reports of a separate assault. During their response, law enforcement received information that the suspect had stolen the vehicle of the assault victim and was fleeing the scene. The suspect was stopped shortly after while driving and subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, in addition to being implicated in other offenses.
Another individual was apprehended in downtown Reykjavík after it was reported that he was carrying a knife near a local establishment. Police continue to address the situation, ensuring the safety of the community as their investigation unfolds.
