Norwegian government proposes significant investments in education and infrastructure for 2025
The Norwegian government has proposed significant investments in education and infrastructure as part of its budget for 2025. A total of 20 new study places in ICT and 15 in medicine are planned for institutions in Ålesund and Levanger. Additionally, there is an allocation of 13.1 million NOK aimed at enhancing decentralized and flexible education, alongside a proposed 5 million NOK increase for writing and mathematics centers.
Queen Maud’s College for Kindergarten Teacher Education is set to receive 30 new study places in work-based training programs, with a total budget proposal of 162.6 million NOK.
In the cultural sector, the government is promoting various initiatives, including a 3.5 million NOK increase in funding for the Trøndelag Theatre and 2.1 million NOK for Rosendal International Theatre for 2025. Museums in Sør-Trøndelag and Steinkjer Culture Building AS are also slated to receive funding for critical investments.
Transport infrastructure will see a substantial boost, with 480.5 million NOK earmarked for county roads in 2025. This includes improvements to the E39 and E6 highways with projects aimed at increasing capacity and safety.
The legislature is also focused on enhancing railway services in Trøndelag, with plans for major upgrades, including electrification of key lines and increased service frequencies. Overall, the proposed budget reflects the government’s commitment to both educational development and infrastructural expansion, signaling a strong investment in the region’s future.
