The Prime Minister has stated that during the NATO summit, discussions centered on how the alliance has never been stronger, contributions to defense have never been higher, the number of countries involved has never been more, and unity has increased. There was no indication of any unease during the NATO leadership summit about the future of the United States in the alliance, regardless of whether Donald Trump remains president after the upcoming elections in the country. The Prime Minister noted that the summit focused heavily on the strength of the alliance, the high level of defense contributions, the increasing number of member states, and the greater unity among them. He mentioned a strong consensus among the nations in support of Ukraine and expressed satisfaction at attending the meeting alongside the leaders of all Nordic countries for the first time.

He questioned why the Americans would want to abandon or weaken a defense alliance that is centered on defending values that are under threat worldwide. “The alliance is about peace and democratic values, freedom, and the right of nations to self-determination. I see no reason whatsoever for Americans to undermine these values,” the Prime Minister said.
