A recent report from the National Board of Health and Welfare indicates that children from Muslim backgrounds are less frequently taken into care compared to other children in similar circumstances. This finding contradicts misinformation circulated by the so-called LVU campaign, which began in Gothenburg in 2021.

The report emphasizes that socio-economic factors, rather than foreign background, are the primary determinants for child removals. Despite this clarification, there remains a significant distrust toward authorities in socially vulnerable areas.

To address this issue, the report suggests that social services need to improve their efforts to build trust within communities where skepticism exists.
