During the wedding of Jimmie Åkesson, leader of the Sweden Democrats (SD), a guest associated with the criminal motorcycle gang Comanches MC was present. While the Swedish factions of the gang are believed to have a relatively low membership, the organization in neighboring Denmark reportedly has around 170 members.

The membership base includes individuals who have left other more established criminal motorcycle gangs like the Hells Angels and Bandidos. The man who attended Åkesson’s wedding has a lengthy history within the criminal motorcycle milieu. Ola Fredriksson, a former police officer and expert, stated that the guest had connections to various gangs, including Bandidos Malmö and Rock Machine MC, which are part of the so-called “one-percenter” culture.

The man has also been a member of La Familia. Police assessments during his time with La Familia indicated that he held a high-ranking position within that club. Åkesson’s guest has previously been an active member of the SD and has mingled with various party members.

Current members of Comanches are reported to have been convicted of serious crimes, including severe weapons offenses, extortion, and drug-related crimes, which indicates a degree of violence associated with the group. Experts view the close relationship between a prominent figure in the criminal world and high-ranking political leaders as a significant issue.

Åkesson stated that he was unaware of the man’s ties to Comanches and expressed that if the focus was solely on motorcycles and friendships, there are associations that do not have criminal links. The Swedish Security Service (Säpo) declined to comment on the specific case but indicated ongoing assessments and dialogues concerning threats.
