Police investigate series of garbage bin fires in Kajaani, Finland
Police in Oulu are investigating a series of seven instances of garbage bins being set on fire early Sunday morning in Kajaani. Shortly after 5:30 AM, patrols received reports of a burning bin near Kajaanihalli. About 40 minutes later, another report came in about another bin ablaze on Tullikalliontie Street.
Subsequently, five additional fire reports were received. These incidents occurred on Satamakatu, Seminaarinkatu, Vienankatu, and at two separate locations on Koulukatu. In five of these cases, individual bins were set ablaze, while in two cases, a bin located within a shelter was involved. One of the fires also damaged the shelter itself.
As of now, the police have not been able to identify or locate any suspects. The fires are being investigated as acts of vandalism, but fortunately, there have been no reported injuries resulting from these incidents.
