Young Swedish men are being hired to commit crimes in Denmark, raising serious concerns among authorities. Following an investigation, two Swedish nationals have been imprisoned for detonating two hand grenades near the Israeli embassy in Denmark, leading to an expanded indictment that now includes charges under the country’s anti-terrorism law, formally known as Section 114 of the penal code.

Copenhagen Police have confirmed that the explosions likely targeted the Israeli embassy. Authorities believe these individuals do not have any immediate ties to Denmark and suspect they traveled there solely to engage in criminal activities. In a related incident in Stockholm, gunfire was reported near the Israeli embassy, prompting Swedish officials to suggest a possible connection between the two cases, with speculation about potential Iranian involvement.

In Denmark, increased border controls have been implemented in light of these incidents, as officials remain vigilant against the potential threat posed by young Swedish nationals being involved in terrorist acts. The threat level in Denmark remains serious, although unchanged, with an assessment rating it at four out of five.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has indicated that the government is willing to provide additional resources to police if necessary, emphasizing the importance of ensuring public safety. The law under which the suspects are charged aims to address actions intended to instill fear in the population or coerce state authorities, encompassing various violent and criminal acts.

Authorities continue to focus on this situation, stating that the investigation is ongoing and emphasizing the need to prevent any escalation in domestic safety threats linked to international conflicts.
