Svandís Svavarsdóttir elected chairperson of Left-Green Movement in Reykjavík

Svandís Svavarsdóttir has been elected as the chairperson of the Left-Green Movement during the party’s national conference. She ran unopposed and succeeds Gudmundur Ingi Gudbrandsson in this role. Out of 175 votes cast, Svandís received 169 votes, with six ballots left blank.

In her victory speech, Svandís expressed gratitude to her party colleagues for their trust and thanked former chair Katrín Jakobsdóttir for her contributions and friendship. She conveyed her enthusiasm for the work ahead.

The next election at the conference will be for the position of vice-chairperson, where the candidates are Gudmundur Ingi, the outgoing chair, and Jódís Skúladóttir. Further updates will be provided once the results are finalized.
