Denmark faces serious terrorism threat following charges against two young Swedes
The threat of terrorism against Denmark is considered serious, according to Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard, following the indictment of two young Swedes under anti-terror legislation after explosions near the Israeli embassy earlier this week.
“If anyone doubted the gravity of last week’s events surrounding the Israeli embassy, these new charges unfortunately clarify that the threat of terrorism against Denmark is real. Sadly, there are dark forces that wish us harm,” Hummelgaard stated.
Last Wednesday, two hand grenades were detonated near the Israeli embassy in Hellerup, and on Tuesday, gunfire was reported near the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. In response to these recent incidents, authorities have decided to bolster police presence at the borders.
This will result in increased police activity, especially on the Øresund Bridge, with additional checks on trains and ferries arriving from Sweden in the coming period.
