Two earthquakes recorded at Bárðarbunga in Iceland
Two earthquakes measuring 3.7 and 3.9 on the Richter scale were recorded today at Bárðarbunga, one of Iceland’s most active volcanic sites. The quakes occurred in the Bárðarbunga caldera at 10:37 AM local time.
Despite the seismic activity, there are no signs of an imminent volcanic eruption, as reported by the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Recent days have seen some level of increased activity at Bárðarbunga, but only a few aftershocks have been detected. The office noted that earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively common in the region.
On September 3, a stronger quake, measuring 5.0, was also recorded at the same location. Seismic monitoring continues to be important in assessing the situation, especially considering the area’s geological history.
