Two Swedish teenagers detained for grenade attacks near Israeli embassy in Copenhagen

Two Swedish teenagers, detained for throwing grenades near the Israeli embassy, have prior police records in Sweden for minor offenses, according to court documents. One of the detainees, a 19-year-old man, was scheduled to appear in a Swedish court but was instead presented at a preliminary hearing in Copenhagen for a different matter. This case was expected to take place at Solna District Court and involved a minor drug offense. In August, he was stopped by police while driving under the influence without a license.

The court documents also reveal that the 16-year-old has been in police trouble as well. He, along with another boy, was caught stealing an item from a Kicks store in Stockholm, valued at approximately 295 Swedish krona, which is nearly 200 Danish kroner. There is currently no evidence linking the two youths to Swedish gang activities, and it remains unclear if similar ties exist regarding the events in Hellerup.

Copenhagen Police are conducting a broad investigation into the motive behind the two explosions at the embassy, with both the 16-year-old and the 19-year-old denying any involvement in the Hellerup case. The two were arrested following a significant police operation that disrupted train services at Copenhagen Central Station on Wednesday morning. Witnesses reported that around ten masked officers stormed a train car to apprehend one of the suspects, resulting in shock among commuters. A third individual was also arrested shortly after the explosions but has since been released.
