Klaksvíkar Municipality pays ransom to hackers after IT system compromise

Klaksvíkar Municipality has paid less than one million Danish kroner as a ransom to the hackers who compromised the municipality’s IT systems about a week and a half ago.

This was revealed by Mayor Karl Johansen during a press conference earlier today.

Additionally, Klaksvíkar Municipality has enlisted foreign specialists to assist in establishing a new IT system.
