Authorities conduct training exercise near Katajanokka in Helsinki

Authorities are conducting a training exercise today in the vicinity of downtown Helsinki, specifically at Katajanokka. This exercise focuses on the external rescue plan for the Port of Helsinki, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Helsinki Fire Department and the Coast Guard in the event of a hazardous materials incident.

Participating in the exercise are rescue units from the Helsinki Fire Department and a rescue helicopter from the Border Guard. The operations will commence at the West Harbor and will move towards Katajanokka. The most visible events of the exercise are expected to take place around 1 PM, continuing until approximately 3 PM.

It is important to note that this training activity will not disrupt operations in the port areas and will not require any actions from the public.
