Five contractors have submitted bids for the construction of a recycling facility aimed at accepting and processing deposit bottles.
The next step for IRF is to discuss the proposals with the contractor that submitted the lowest bid, according to Sigurd L. Lamhauge, director of IRF.
The facility will be built on the site of an old quarry in Sandavágur. The new system is designed to simplify the process for residents to return deposit bottles at a single location.
Under the new deposit system, individuals will receive a refund for bottles that are registered upon their arrival in the country.
