Just after 4:30 PM, police in Møre and Romsdal reported that a boat off Flø in Ulstein had a line caught in its propeller. The Southern Norway Rescue Coordination Center was engaged to oversee the operation, and a police patrol was dispatched to the scene.
By approximately 5:45 PM, the boat was able to operate under its own power, according to Eivind Bø, the operations leader at the rescue center. Both the fireboat Vilje and the rescue vessel Det Norske Veritas II were sent to assist in preventing the boat from running aground.
They eventually managed to remove the line from the propeller and restart the engine. Initially, the boat required an escort, but it was later able to proceed independently, Bø reported.
There were two people aboard the vessel, which was described as a smaller fishing boat. The fireboat and rescue vessel were deployed specifically to mitigate the risk of the boat running aground. Bø noted at around 4:40 PM that while there was currently no imminent danger of the boat crashing ashore, potential risks remained, prompting the decision to send resources to the site.
