Police investigate suspected sexual offense during school hours in Kauniainen

The Western Uusimaa police are investigating a suspected sexual offense that occurred during school hours in Kauniainen. Crime Commissioner Maria Hietajärvi has urged that the investigation be left to the authorities, discouraging the spread of information and speculation on social media.

“This type of incident understandably evokes strong emotions among both young people and adults. The police and other authorities will guide those involved towards necessary support and assistance,” Hietajärvi stated in a police bulletin.

The police are also looking into a separate assault that took place around the same time in Kauniainen and are examining any potential connections between the two incidents. Both cases involve minors, and the police will not disclose further details to protect the privacy of those involved.

Commissioner Hannu Väänänen noted that the youth crime investigation unit and preventive services of the Western Uusimaa police are actively collaborating with Kauniainen’s educational services to ensure the continuation of regular school activities and maintain a peaceful school environment.
