A selection committee appointed by the Kainuu regional government has chosen four candidates for suitability assessments for the position of regional director of wellbeing. The candidates progressing to the next stage are Timo Halonen, the acting director of Kainuu’s wellbeing region; Sami Mäenpää, area director; Juha Tiainen from Haukipudas; and Katja Virta, acting director of the Keski-Pohjanmaa wellbeing region.
A total of nineteen individuals applied for the position, with fifteen meeting the qualification requirements. Seven candidates advanced to the interview stage. Anne Lukkari, chair of the regional council and the selection committee, stated that the regional government is expected to make a recommendation to the council during its meeting on October 21. Following this, the new director of wellbeing will be appointed on November 4.
The previous director of Kainuu’s wellbeing region, Jukka Lindberg, resigned in June due to a lack of confidence.
