Government plans to discontinue financial support for fishing industry in Sweden

The government plans to discontinue financial support for the fishing industry. This measure is included in the proposed budget for 2025. The fishing sector has been receiving a ten percent discount.

Originally, this financial support for the fishing industry was established in a regulation during the 1990s when the sector was facing significant financial difficulties. Today, however, the fishing industry is in a vastly different position.

The government does not believe that the fishing sector still requires this financial aid.
