In the Niemenranta area of Tampere, concerns have arisen regarding a deep construction pit that is now being surrounded by heavy concrete barriers. Recent reports highlighted the situation at the construction site on Federleynkatu, where a dangerous shortcut had developed by moving plastic construction fences aside. Local residents report that this path is frequently used to access a nearby parking lot, and they express concern about children peering over the edge of the pit.

The site in question is associated with the Kiinteistö Mylly parking garage. According to CEO Juha Toivanen, there have been issues with water impermeability, which have been investigated throughout the summer. This led to the excavation of the deep pit. Toivanen acknowledges that the current state of the construction site poses a safety risk.

Toivanen stated that heavy construction barriers weighing several hundred kilograms will be installed around the pit, which can only be moved using machinery. While he has not received direct feedback regarding the danger of the worksite, he assures that appropriate measures will be taken in response to concerns. He expressed his own worry about the potential for accidents and emphasized the urgency to prevent any harm.
