Ministry plans temporary easing of registration requirement for private doctors in Finland

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland is planning a temporary easing of the registration requirement that affects private doctors and therapists. This change would allow service providers to begin operations temporarily before receiving an official registration decision.

Currently, private operators in the social and health sector must be registered in the Soteri registry before commencing their activities. However, the registry has been significantly backlogged.

Jaska Siikavirta, a director at the Ministry, stated that the legislative preparation is based on the principle that individuals working with children would not be able to start their work until after they have received their registration decision.
