New system to support families announced amid child welfare concerns in Sunda, Faroe Islands

Since January 2022, there has been no family court operating in the region.
As a consequence, more children have been placed into child welfare facilities. A new system is set to be implemented, aiming to provide more support for families at home, according to the Minister of Children and Education.

In the municipality of Sunda, voters will have the opportunity to support a women’s electoral list during the municipal elections on November 12. Steps have been taken to improve female representation within the municipal council, where currently only one out of eleven council members is a woman.
However, as the deadline approaches for submitting candidacies for the municipal elections, how effective will efforts be in getting women onto the electoral lists?
