Police investigate severing of fiber optic cables in Kydö area of Joensuu

Police have continued the preliminary investigation into the severing of fiber optic cables in the Kydö area of Joensuu. A couple of weeks ago, cables were cut at six different equipment cabinets belonging to the company Valokuitunen. According to the investigation, the fiber optic connection was disrupted in the area around noon on Saturday, September 14. It is believed that side cutters may have been used in the act.

Authorities are seeking information from the public, particularly from individuals who were in the vicinity of the equipment cabinets on that Saturday. The police are treating the incident as severe vandalism and serious disruption of telecommunications services.
