Two Tupperware sales representatives in Iceland affirm that the American company is not exiting the market despite recent financial struggles. The representatives claim that the company is undergoing restructuring, rather than winding down operations.

Áslaug Elísdóttir, a Tupperware seller for 30 years, stated that she has received no indication that the company will cease its activities. She expressed her enduring passion for Tupperware products, which have been sold through home parties since the mid-20th century, and emphasized their popularity in the Nordic countries.

The company is known for its airtight plastic containers and various kitchen tools, which were originally designed by engineer Earl Tupper. However, it was marketer Brownie Wise who popularized the concept of home parties for selling Tupperware products after World War II, transforming it into a lucrative opportunity for many women, particularly in the 1960s.

Sigríður Þórarinsdóttir, another sales representative who has hosted Tupperware parties for over two decades, echoed Áslaug’s sentiments regarding the company’s future. She downplayed rumors of Tupperware ceasing operations, asserting that the company is reorganizing and has sufficient inventory for the coming year.

Both representatives highlighted the durability of Tupperware products, often passed down through generations, and noted that their sales in Iceland remain strong. They expressed confidence that Tupperware will continue to thrive both locally and internationally.
