Valmet, a Finnish machinery company, has secured a historically significant order for a pulp mill to be built in Brazil. The company’s stock experienced a notable rise on Wednesday following the announcement made early in the morning. Valmet will supply a complete pulp mill to Araucaria, a Chilean forestry company. Alongside the mill, the order includes comprehensive automation and flow control solutions for the facility in Brazil. The contract is valued at over one billion euros.

According to Valmet, the new pulp mill will become the largest single-phase pulp mill project in the world, with an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons. The company will provide all the process technologies for the mill’s production cycle, ranging from wood handling to the preparation of ready pulp bales, focusing specifically on producing short-fiber pulp. Valmet will also deliver the entire automation system and associated flow control solutions for the facility.

The delivery will encompass equipment design, procurement, installation, and startup. Further details are expected to follow.
