Two individuals charged with vandalism in Kristiansand after extensive tire slashing incident
Police have arrested and charged two individuals for vandalism or complicity in vandalism after tires on multiple vehicles were damaged in Kristiansand. This was confirmed by Deputy Chief Ingrid Bjerke of the Agder Police District.
On September 9, car dealers in Sørlandsparken discovered extensive vandalism affecting cars. Tires were slashed both at the dealerships and at a nearby school, Ansgarskolen. The suspects include a man in his twenties and a minor.
Both individuals have been interrogated, but Bjerke stated she could not comment on their testimonies due to the ongoing investigation.
The vandalized vehicles were found at Ansgarskolen and in Sørlandsparken, with 80 tires damaged across 44 cars. The police believe the tire slashing occurred between September 7 and 9.
“The information gathered alongside technical investigations has led to the charges against the two for vandalism or complicity in vandalism on these vehicles,” Bjerke noted. The minor’s attorney, Bjørge Usterud Tveito, stated that the boy does not admit to any wrongdoing. As of now, the man in his twenties has not been assigned legal representation, according to the police.
Among the affected businesses was G-bil in Sørlandsparken, where tires on 30 cars were slashed, resulting in estimated damages amounting to several hundred thousand kroner, as reported by used car manager Ted Bergkvist. At Toyota Sør, tires on three vehicles undergoing repairs were also cut, and the dealership provided surveillance footage to the police following the incident.
