Car veers off road near Vestfjardargong tunnel in Súgandafjörður

A car veered off the road near the Vestfjardargong tunnel in Súgandafjörður this morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to the police in the Westfjords. However, they have issued warnings about icy conditions and slippery patches on numerous mountain roads across the region.

This caution extends beyond the Westfjords; icy roads and snow showers have been reported on Öxnadalsheiði. Additionally, all mountain passes in Northeast Iceland are experiencing winter driving conditions. Further east, there is a snow cover and snowfall on Fjarðarheiði, while most other routes in that area are also reported to have slippery patches or ice.
