A recent survey by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Education reveals that the state pension would have cost an additional 40-50 million Danish krone last year if wages had not been factored into the income calculations for pensioners.

However, this does not include those who have opted for deferred pensions. If earned income were not deducted from pensions, there would be no rationale for choosing a deferred pension.

Currently, 500 individuals have chosen to defer their pensions. If they had received their full state pension, the costs to the state would have been 50 million krone higher last year.

This information was shared by Sirið Stenberg, the Minister of Social Affairs, in response to a question posed by Hans Jacob Thomsen, a member of the parliament, regarding the calculations in the state pension scheme.
