Bjarni Benediktsson rated lowest among Icelandic ministers in recent survey
In a recent survey conducted by Maskína, Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson has been rated the lowest among all ministers during the current parliamentary term. Over 50% of respondents believe that ministers from his party, the Independence Party, have performed worse than those from the Progressive Party and the Left-Green Movement. However, 28.6% of the public still rate the Independence Party ministers better than their counterparts in the governing coalition.
In contrast, Minister of Justice Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir emerges as the highest-rated minister, with 7.3% of respondents considering her the best performer in this term. Following her, former Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir is viewed favorably, alongside Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, the Minister of Higher Education, Industry, and Innovation.
On the other hand, 10.1% of those surveyed think that Minister of Infrastructure Svandís Svavarsdóttir has had the poorest performance, with nearly 5% attributing similar sentiments to Katrín Jakobsdóttir’s actions.
The survey, which took place between September 10 and 16, gathered responses from 994 participants, shedding light on the public’s perception of governmental performance in Iceland during this legislative period.
