There has been a burglary at ELKO stores in Skeifunni and Lindum, resulting in the theft of mobile phones. The Reykjavik Metropolitan Police are investigating the break-in, as employees from ELKO assess the scope of the theft.

Details about the extent of the theft will not be available until an inventory check is completed. However, it is possible that there could be a shortage of certain types of mobile phones as a consequence.

In a statement, Óttar Örn Sigurbergsson, the managing director of ELKO, confirmed that the police are working on the case. ELKO staff are currently cataloging which mobile phones are missing, and measures will be taken to deactivate stolen devices in cooperation with suppliers.
