On Thursday, the victim advocates for those affected in the Frosta case announced their intention to appeal the decision to dismiss several of their clients’ cases. The state attorney confirmed that 15 of the cases forwarded from the police have been closed due to insufficient evidence.

Eli Nessimo, the state attorney, noted that the total number of cases dismissed could be higher, as some were closed before being sent to her office. The exact number of cases dismissed by the police remains undisclosed.

The charges against the former municipal chief physician in Frosta were made public on Tuesday, identifying 96 women as victims. However, this number might increase, as investigations revealed potential additional victims.

The police conducted a thorough review of over 6,000 hours of video evidence, leading to the identification of 159 new women affected by the case since the initial count. The former physician is accused of sexual misconduct against 39 women. The nature of the incidents reportedly involved inappropriate behaviors under the guise of medical examinations.

Victim advocate Tove Røddesnes stated their team is assessing whether to challenge the case dismissals with the Attorney General, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges and the wide impact on the Frosta community.

The former chief physician faced previous allegations and warnings from health authorities in 2007, with claims of inappropriate conduct dating back to the 1990s. The case has garnered significant attention and calls for justice as it proceeds through the legal system, with an upcoming trial scheduled for November.
