Queen Margrethe has spent the night at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen following a fall that occurred the day before yesterday at Fredensborg Palace. However, she remains in good spirits under the circumstances, confirmed the royal family this morning. The queen is hospitalized for observation, as stated by the palace yesterday.

King Frederik addressed his mother’s incident during an event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Copenhagen Boys’ Choir. “I have not had the opportunity to visit her yet, but I have spoken with her. She is doing well, and I feel very confident about her treatment at Rigshospitalet,” he told the press present.

Despite her recent accident, Queen Margrethe continues to play an active role in the royal family, even after passing the throne to her eldest son. She was scheduled to attend a function today at Aarhus University to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Department of Archaeology, but this visit was canceled due to her fall. Just last Wednesday, she attended an event in Copenhagen for the opening of a conference, and on Monday, she presented an award.

The queen’s health has been a concern in recent years, which was a factor in her abdication in January. Last year, she underwent a significant back surgery and was on sick leave for several months. However, royal expert Thomas Larsen noted that the queen’s level of activity indicates that she is still in good shape and capable of fulfilling her royal duties, saying her recovery has shown her resilience and ability to be “fit for fight.”
