Frískúlin in Havn calls new meeting after failure to reach quorum
A supplementary general meeting was held for the Frískúlin in Havn at Velbastaður last night to decide the fate of the school. However, the meeting did not meet the required quorum, leading to the announcement of a new supplementary general meeting scheduled for October 21.
According to Búgvi Dalsgarð, the chairman of the board at Frískúlan in Havn, the agenda for the upcoming meeting remains unchanged from the last one, focusing solely on a proposal to close the school. The regulations for Frískúlan state that two-thirds of the members must vote in favor for the school to be closed.
Dalsgarð indicated that a majority of those present at last night’s meeting supported the closure, but since the meeting did not achieve quorum, no formal decisions could be made.
He noted a significant decline in student enrollment since news about the school’s situation and potential closure emerged. Despite the uncertainty, he assured that classes are still ongoing, and it remains unclear when exactly Frískúlan in Havn might cease operations.
The new supplementary general meeting is set for October 21.
