On Tuesday evening, the Southwest Finland police received a report about a donkey trotting along the road in Laitila. The call came just before 6 PM, informing them of a donkey that had escaped from its pasture. A listener who contacted Yle described the donkey as calmly trotting beside the road.

“It was just trotting there nicely along the roadside,” the listener noted.

Due to ongoing road work in the area, traffic was moving slowly at that time. Eventually, the traffic came to a complete halt, and the donkey dashed past a line of cars.

“I briefly thought about capturing it; I even called out to it from my car window, but it continued on its way. I probably should have had a lasso with me,” the listener chuckled.

When a local police unit arrived on the scene, they found the donkey munching on grass near the Kovero industrial area. The police successfully returned the wandering animal to its owner.

“Now the donkey is on the right side of the fence,” reported Commissioner Joonas Tikka from the police situation center.

Laitila is located approximately 60 kilometers from Turku.
