Temperatures plummet in Lapland as frost hits Kittilä and Muonio

In many parts of Lapland, temperatures dropped below zero during the night leading into Monday. Sunday morning also saw frost in various locations across the region. According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the coldest temperature recorded on Monday morning was in Kittilä’s Pokka, where the thermometer showed -5.3 degrees Celsius at 7 AM. Similar temperatures were observed in Muonio’s Oustajärvi, which recorded -5.2 degrees Celsius at the same time.

Significant frost was also noted in areas such as Enontekiö, Inari, Kittilä, and Utsjoki. Even further south, Ylivieska experienced sub-zero temperatures on Monday morning.

Sunday morning’s lowest temperature was measured in Muonio’s Oustajärvi at -4.4 degrees Celsius.

For Monday, approximately 15 degrees Celsius is forecasted for daytime temperatures in Lapland, while southern Finland may see temperatures rise to around 20 degrees Celsius.
