A residential apartment in Keuruu was rendered uninhabitable due to a fire on Friday afternoon, as reported by the Central Finland Rescue Service. At the time the fire broke out, all doors and windows of the unit were closed, which caused the flames to dwindle due to a lack of oxygen and nearly extinguish themselves. According to the rescue service, general ignition did not occur, despite the intense heat inside the apartment. The contents and surfaces of the unit were charred and destroyed during the fire.

The rescue service managed to extinguish the initial blaze and ventilate the building. Residents were urgently evacuated from the premises, and smoke damage affected other apartments in the building. Fortunately, there were no occupants in the burned apartment at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries or exposure to smoke for others in the building. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the police are investigating the origin of the flames.

Residents will be allowed to return to their apartments if smoke conditions permit. The Red Cross is on-site to assist residents and provide accommodations if necessary. The property manager is coordinating with a specialized maintenance company for post-damage recovery efforts. The rescue team continues its cleanup operation after extinguishing the fire.
