Man from Pori suspected of leading large-scale drug trafficking operation in Southwest Finland
A man from Pori is suspected of leading a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The Southwest Finland police have completed a preliminary investigation into this extensive drug-related crime. The suspect, a man in his thirties, allegedly purchased drugs from the Helsinki metropolitan area and sold them in Pori and elsewhere in Southwest Finland.
His accomplice is a man under 20 years of age from Helsinki, who reportedly arranged most of the drugs for the main suspect. A second suspect, a man in his fifties from Pori, is accused of retrieving drugs from the capital region and distributing them further.
All three individuals face multiple charges of serious drug offenses as well as severe firearm-related crimes. The police apprehended the suspects in spring 2024. While they were detained during the investigation, they have since been released, according to Kimmo Lindholm, the lead investigator and detective commissioner at the Southwest Finland police department.
During the investigation, authorities seized approximately 22,500 Ksalol tablets, over a kilogram of amphetamines, around 250 Subutex tablets, about 30 grams of cocaine, various other classified drugs, and a 3D-printed submachine gun.
The total amount of drugs involved is likely much larger, as the main suspect is believed to have procured and distributed significant quantities of drugs in the Pori area beyond those confiscated. Lindholm noted that the drug trade connected to Pori is part of a larger investigation into drug importation being conducted by the Helsinki police this year. The extensive drug case from Pori will soon be passed on to the prosecutor.
