A TikTok account emerged in late August, aimed at exposing alleged sexual offenders and bullies. The account has quickly gained over 50,000 followers, with videos accumulating hundreds of thousands of views. In these videos, anonymous individuals confront those they label as bullies or abusers using altered voices.
The group behind the account claims that they have taken this initiative because the police lack resources to handle such cases. Their content includes revealing names, ages, professions, and sexually charged conversations between victims and alleged perpetrators. The account operates voluntarily, with around 600 interested individuals currently on a waiting list to join.
Henry Aflecht, a media personality living in Spain, is the only member who has publicly addressed the group’s activities. He clarifies that he serves merely to connect people and that his association does not imply ownership of the group. The core mission focuses primarily on investigating bullying incidents, although allegations of child sexual abuse constitute about 10% of their cases.
Critics, including legal experts, warn that the actions of the group may infringe on privacy rights and could result in criminal charges for members sharing personal information or for complicity in defamatory actions. They cite concerns about potentially exposing innocent individuals and emphasize that any shared content must comply with Finnish law, regardless of where it is posted from.
Police authorities have noted the group’s activities but are still assessing the situation. They caution against vigilante justice, urging that any legitimate concerns be reported to law enforcement instead of self-investigating or confronting targets directly. Despite the controversy, Aflecht claims to have received overwhelmingly positive feedback for the group’s efforts.
