In Kópavogur, concerns have arisen among parents regarding a man teaching self-defense techniques to children at a playground near the local library. The instruction, which allegedly includes the use of knives and clubs, has sparked significant alarm, prompting discussions in community Facebook groups. Authorities have confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.

The man has reportedly been sharing videos on TikTok showcasing his “courses” conducted at the playground. In one nearly five-minute video, a group of children is seen watching as his associate demonstrates how to engage in combat using toy swords. Other footage indicates that the men are handling knives and illustrating how to defend against attacks from such weapons.

A parent in the community has urged other caregivers to inform their children to report the man’s presence whenever they are at the playground. This parent expressed dismay, calling it inappropriate for him to be conducting such activities with weapons while children are present and without parental oversight.

Kópavogur’s chief police officer stated they have received multiple reports regarding this individual. The police are actively following up on the situation to address community safety concerns.

Additionally, the man has uploaded over 20 videos, with one showing him brandishing a club and instructing children on how to defend themselves from attacks. The footage notably lacks evidence of adult supervision or parental consent. The evolving situation warrants close monitoring as officials work to ensure the safety of children in the area.
