Concerns have arisen among parents in Kópavogur about a man allegedly instructing young children in self-defense techniques at a playground near the local library. The man has reportedly been demonstrating techniques involving knives and other weapons, prompting local authorities to investigate the situation.

The man has shared videos on TikTok that showcase these “classes” held at the playground. In one nearly five-minute clip, several young children appear to be engaged in watching a demonstration where a companion is showing them how to “fight” using toy swords. Additional footage reportedly depicts the man wielding a knife and instructing children on how to defend against attacks.

One concerned parent took to a Facebook group, urging other parents to warn their children to notify them if the man is around. The parent expressed strong disapproval of the man’s actions, stating, “It is completely inappropriate for him to show up with ‘swords,’ knives, and such, and teach children without parents present.”

Gunnar Hilmarsson, a chief inspector at the Kópavogur police station, confirmed they had received reports about the man and acknowledged discussions circulating within community Facebook groups. “We are currently processing this matter; we will locate him and then speak with him,” Gunnar stated.

The man has uploaded over 20 videos on his TikTok account, showcasing various exercises and martial arts demonstrations with toy swords. Notably, there seems to be no evidence of adult supervision or parental knowledge during these sessions as shown in the videos.
