Two young children were hospitalized yesterday after accidentally consuming candy infused with THC, a psychoactive compound found in cannabis. The children, aged 11 and 5, exhibited signs of poisoning after eating gummy candies at their home. A family member had unknowingly brought the candy into the house in a sealed bag.
No further information has been released regarding the children’s condition. Ásmundur Rúnar Gylfason, an assistant police chief, noted that serious poisoning cases occasionally come to the attention of the police. He urges parents and guardians to be vigilant about what their children consume and reminds everyone to avoid eating candy of unknown origin.
The children were transferred to a children’s hospital for treatment.
