Märtha and Durek celebrate with wedding cake for locals in Geiranger
The excitement from the recent wedding of Märtha and Durek continues in Geiranger, even after the celebrities and royal guests have departed. On Monday evening, the couple’s wedding cake will be served outside Hotel Union, drawing locals eager to taste the treat.
Hotel director Monja Mjelva noted the crowd gathering for the celebration. “Many people are excited to sample the cake. There’s a steady influx of visitors,” she said.
The couple expressed their gratitude towards the community for their support leading up to the wedding. Mjelva shared a message from the newlyweds: “We want to send a huge thank you to everyone in Geiranger who helped us with our wedding. You decorated the streets, planted flowers, and sent us good wishes on our special day. As a small token of appreciation, we wish to share our wedding cake with you. We hope you enjoy it. Best regards, Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett.”
Mjelva described the cake as a fancy carrot cake with traditional filling, prepared by the hotel’s pastry chefs. She confirmed that while the couple had tasted the cake, there were plenty of portions reserved for guests. The hotel is also providing coffee and juice for the occasion. “Now we will enjoy ourselves here in Geiranger,” Mjelva added with a laugh.
This event not only brings the community together but also highlights the bond between the royal family and the residents of Geiranger.
