Powerful Rain Front Causes Flooding in South Ostrobothnia

A powerful rain front traversing South Ostrobothnia kept emergency services busy late Saturday evening. Most of the tasks were related to rainwater that had entered basements.

“We have had over a dozen units pumping water from the basements. The amount of rainfall has been truly significant,” stated Petri Järvensivu, the on-duty chief of the South Ostrobothnia Rescue Service, to Yle shortly before 2 a.m.

By this point, the rainfall was beginning to subside.
