Tragic stabbing incident claims life of 17-year-old girl in Reykjavik during Cultural Night

A 17-year-old girl, Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir, who was stabbed during a Cultural Night event in downtown Reykjavik, has succumbed to her injuries. She was one of three victims attacked on Skúlagata during the festivities. Bryndís was critically injured and rushed to Landspítali hospital, where she passed away the following evening.

Bryndís’s family expressed their gratitude to everyone who tried to save her, especially the hospital staff and first responders at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy suspected of carrying out the attack was arrested at his home shortly after the incident. Additionally, another girl and a teenage boy were also injured in the assault.
