A woman has been convicted of sexual harassment against a minor by the Reykjanes District Court. She was charged with repeatedly sending inappropriate sexual messages via Instagram to a underage boy. The messages were deemed inappropriate, disrespectful, immoral, and humiliating. The court, however, dropped the part of the charges regarding repeated offenses during the case proceedings. The woman admitted to sending the messages to the boy.
The boy’s mother sought 2 million Icelandic krónur (approximately $13,700) in damages on behalf of her son. As a result, the court sentenced the woman to 60 days in a suspended sentence and ordered her to pay 300,000 krónur (around $2,050) in compensation.
