The Chief of Police has lifted the state of uncertainty regarding the Skaftá flood, which has been in effect since August 21. Over the past two days, water flow in the Skaftá River has decreased significantly, returning to levels similar to before the flood began on August 20.

It has only been twelve months since the last flood from the Eystri-Skaftárkatli, while it is typically expected to have a recurrence every two to three years. Additionally, it has been an unusually long time since the last event from the Vestari-Skaftárkatli, which last flooded in the fall of 2021.
