Former border guard sentenced to two and a half years in prison in Helsinki
The Helsinki District Court has sentenced Jim Markku Koskenmäki, a former border guard, to two and a half years in prison for multiple crimes. He was accused of leaking confidential information regarding an investigation into a criminal group to another individual. Born in 1974, Koskenmäki was found guilty of breaching official secrets, severe misconduct in office, accepting substantial bribes, serious firearms offenses, and drug use crimes. He was arrested in March 2022 and subsequently dismissed during the preliminary investigation. Koskenmäki had served in the Border Guard’s military position since 1995.
