Fire breaks out in old barn in Efstadal, Bláskógabyggð, Iceland

A fire broke out in an old barn in Efstadal, located in Bláskógabyggð, shortly before 1 AM last night. The structure, which had been unused for some time, housed no animals. Due to its proximity to other buildings, the local fire department worked swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading.

Garðar Már Garðarsson, chief inspector with the South Iceland Police, reported that significant damage occurred to the barn, but firefighting efforts were effective. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and a police investigation is underway.
