Poll indicates 24% of Icelanders support Kristrún Frostadóttir for Prime Minister

Around 24% of the Icelandic population supports Kristrún Frostadóttir, leader of the Social Democratic Party, as the next Prime Minister. This information comes from a recent poll conducted by Prósents for the podcast “Bakherbergið.” Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, leader of the Center Party, follows with 9% support.

Another poll by Maskína, released yesterday, indicates that the Center Party has surpassed the Independence Party in terms of voter support, making it the second-largest political party in Iceland. Six percent of respondents name Inga Sæland, leader of the People’s Party, as their choice for the next Prime Minister, while 5% support Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir from the Reform Party.

Only 5% mentioned current Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson as their preferred candidate. Meanwhile, 4% named Áslaug Örnu Sigurbjörnsdóttir, and 3% chose Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, both from the Independence Party. Additionally, 3% support Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson from the Progress Party, and 2% named Sónna Magdalena Mörtudóttir, a city council member from the Socialist Party.
